Exhibit: Psychological Landscapes (Feb 20 – March 6)

Tallahassee, FL—The paintings of Jonathon Clark take viewers on a journey through “psychological landscapes” to experience the many mythologies of Florida and the artist’s relationship to it, perceived and interpreted. “The Psychological Landscapes Exhibition” begins its two-week run with an opening reception on February 20th at 6pm.

“I have been painting most of my life,” says Clark. “I discovered a love for drawing at a young age, which led me to painting by the time I reached middle school. My parents, who were very supportive, paid for my private painting lessons with local artists when the school programs failed at offering any real insight into the arts. I studied art history and painted every week in a local studio all through high school in Kentucky where I received wonderful hands-on experience. It was there at about 16 that I began freelance painting by commission. After graduating, I endured short stints in various college art programs, which although short-lived, provided a base of imagery and technique that contributes to my work. I paint and draw in Florida and in plein-air. The area has had a great influence on recent paintings and the many styles and mediums I traverse.”
